i'm really digging on the do, a french duo. and that's do as in the first and last notes in a musical scale, you know, the tonic.
lend an ear and tell me if you don't fall in love.
while you're at it, go ahead a
give a listen to portland natives blind pilot. it's another duo, acoustic this time, but still very honest and pleasant music. i find myself leaning more towards tonal and diatonic music, as opposed to atonal, chromatic, and dissonant. maybe it's because in theory class we're analyzing chord progressions and modulations. don't tell anyone, but i secretly do roman numeral analysis in my head for almost every song i hear.
in other news, my plants are growing! soon i'll be enjoying a fresh winter crop salad. i can't wait for the weather to warm up a bit for spring vegetables. i'll soon reclaim my garden from the blanket of snow that currently covers it.
i'll leave you with a quote of Pablo Casals, the great spanish cellist:
For the past eighty years I have started each day in the same manner. It is not a mechanical routine but something essential to my daily life. I go to the piano, and I play two preludes and fugues of Bach. I cannot think of doing otherwise. It is sort of benediction on the house.
